ANIMALS

Confession. I don't like animals. I have absolutely nothing in common with them, do not find them cute, dislike the way some of them seem to think you would like to be licked and have no desire to be flown at, jumped up at or sat on. Having said that, photographing them, from a respectable distance, can make for an interesting, sometimes fascinating, picture.

To buy a print, note the reference number and click on the link at the foot of this page. Obviously you will receive the print without the copyright watermark which appears on these pages.

Prints are available in the standard sizes and prices which are also shown at the foot of this page. If you would like a different size or a print on acrylic, please email me for prices.

Prints are sold as soon as payment is received. From that moment they are no longer available for anyone else to purchase. If you are interested in buying a print but not at the standard sizes, you can reserve this print by making a payment at the lowest level, i.e. 15. Once you have discussed your requirements with me, you can then make the additional payment and I will then process your order. This can avoid the disappointment of losing out if discussions take time. In the event of you deciding not to proceed, the 15 you have paid will be refunded to you.

The first picture here I love because of the reflected shape in the water. The second has each gull with their wings in a slightly different position, the third shows one coming into to land while the fourth, to me, looks like a two-headed creature.

Ducks, and the odd swan or two and a baby gull. Pictures one and three were taken at Flatford while picture two was in Highwoods, Colchester. The final picture was in my own back yard. The gull, obviously very young, encamped in the communal car park for a week or two until it flew away. I also took a video of it being fed by its mother. Fascinating.

Mistley, not far from where I live, is known for its swan population and that is where I pictured these. In the fourth picture some of the swans actually look like stepping stones.

More swans. The first landing among friends at Mistley, the second at Flatford and the final two somewhere on the Norfolk Broads.

The vertically challenged swan was pictured in Chelmsford, the owl at the fascinating Owl Sanctuary at Stonham Aspal in Suffolk (well worth a visit) and during my four or so years in New Zealand I spent a day in the Bay of Islands where I went out on a boat trip to swim with dolphins. I don't swim particularly well, or far, except for downwards in deep water and that's not really swimming, but I did get this great picture as the dolphins put on a special show as our boat passed by.

Finally, for now, a mixed bag. A seal, photographed at the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek in Cornwall; a peacock on Rottnest Island off the west coast of Australia (more in another category) and the last one is a quokka also on Rottnest and possible the reason why the Dutch who first saw the island named it as they did. They thought these little marsupials were rats, hence Rottnest. Picture three is a fruit bat that I saw in Tonga. I admit with this one I have blanked out the surroundings as it flew overhead, mainly to emphasise the incredible see-through quality of its wings.
